Photo Shoot Advice

Sign in to disble this ad
Searched for a thread on this but suprisingly didnt find one, so here goes..

We've got a photo shoot on wednesday for a new band we've put together (6 piece band backing a pair of Michael Buble-esque singers) and as a photoshoot virgin i was wondering if the assembled minds of TB could offer any advice?

We're all wearing Tux's (singers want that image)

but i was thinking we could do some with the band in all black as well.

Im taking my upright bass, and my Jazz, for different shots, but haven't really got any more ideas than that.

Any tips on what to do or not do / take from a serial model?

Whatever you do, don't pose in front of a brick wall. That is generally recognised to be the most overused, cliche background for a band pic.

A tuxedoed band is a dapper band. Sounds sharp!

Just make sure that you guys are wearing tuxes in an appropriate context... for instance, if you get all tuxed up and wind up posing in someone's back yard it screams "going to prom" more than "we're a sweet band".

Any old looking theaters, or smokey clubs you have at your disposal? Those could be good locales...

Also a HUGE +1 to the "don't pose in front of a brick wall" rule. It hasn't looked good since these guys did it...

My band is also planning a photoshoot soon for a new band pic. Not doing any brick wall thing but we're looking for new ideas and not having much luck.
It's like everything has been done before and most done many times over. We've been trying hard for a good idea but so far we're stumped.
We got to think of something pretty quick.

Don't do what I tend to do and get the giggles every time the photographer tries to get a good shot.
