Pianist - Lang Lang...awful.

Everytime i see/hear him playing i cringe. I've never heard a pianist with such a horrible rhythm. Im not saying he doesnt follow the proper tempo, Im sure a virtuoso like him does that easily.

But...his total lack groove and sensibility is scary. I guess he is a reflexion of how chinese still has a complex of inferiority and try to prove themselves with over the top, extremely exagerated things. What doesnt work very well in music...

Well, Im glad its only classical music that he is butchering. May the universe never allow him to butcher some jazz standard.

You really have to make a silly blanket comment on the Chinese people as a whole?

I didnt say chinese people were inferior by any means, but its clearly to anyone they have a hard time with their steemn in relation to the West. But thats not even the focus of the discussion. The focus is a highly overrated pianist IMO. And since I think he lacks things that are very fond to us bassists, Im curious to see what the other guys and girls think about him.

I didn't say you said the Chinese people were inferior, but saying that they as a whole have an inferiority complex is just as bad.

You are the kind that likes to piss of the sociology teacher because he/she makes generalizations, right?

I've only really seen him play once, at the Olympic opening ceremony. His playing seemed good, though fairly restrained most likely due to the grandiosty of the occasion.

The showing off of technical ability while sacrificing musicality is seen among us bass players though **cough**jaco**cough**. It doesn't, however, mean that they are awful, or that you can make sweeping generalisations over a nation.

I will make another one...the brazilian society is very corrupted. It doesnt mean that every individual brazilian is corrupted, it means that is something that really affect the society in many aspects, even though not all individuals are what is said. Im brazilian btw.

Cmon, You guys are like "you can cricticize a 3rd world nation of non-white people, its very un-PC!"

But thats not the topic!! Lets focus on the pianist. I know he has incredible skills and chops, but it feels like he forces things a bit.

There's a lot of pianist around the world. Why on earth did you start nip picking on Lang Lang. Did he done anything recently that attracts your attention?

Never hear of him, but if he's Chinese, I'm sure he has a complex of inferiority and I won't dig what he's about.

Never heard him. A pianist I can't listen to is Richard Clayderman. I don't know what people sees (or saw) in him. Luckily I haven't heard of him in quite a while.
