"Pick me up" songs

Sign in to disble this ad
What songs do you guys or gals listen to when your life is in a funk? You know the occasional heartbreak, stagnant life, heavy heart, hollow stomach type of feelings.

Im open to anything. I'm sorry if this has been done before. Maybe this could be an updated version of it.

thanks

Sorry man, I've only got the "make you even more depressed and now slightly suicidal" type of songs.

If nothing makes you feel better, it's time to let Slayer turn that depression into anger. Reign in Blood is a good one for that. Don't get caught up in the emo wallowing in pity trap.

Deja Entendu is an awesome CD. That song, I Will Play My Game Beneath The Spin Lights, Okay I Believe You But My Tommy Guy Don't, Jaws Theme Swimming, Guernica, and Sic Transit Gloria are all awesome songs.

Just listen to as much emo as possible for some depressing/funny as hell stuff.

If you're really in need of a pick-me-up, maybe listen to some good old Wham. Who could be sad while listening to Wake Me Up Before You Go Go?

Jitterbug [4X]

You put the boom-boom into my heart
You send my soul sky high when your lovin' starts
Jitterbug into my brain
Goes a bang-bang-bang 'til my feet do the same
But something's bugging you
Something ain't right
My best friend told me what you did last night
Left me sleepin' in my bed
I was dreaming, but I should have been with you instead.

Wake me up before you go-go
Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo
Wake me up before you go-go
I don't want to miss it when you hit that high
Wake me up before you go-go
'Cause I'm not plannin' on going solo
Wake me up before you go-go
Take me dancing tonight
I wanna hit that high (yeah, yeah)

You take the grey skies out of my way
You make the sun shine brighter than Doris Day
Turned a bright spark into a flame
My beats per minute never been the same

'Cause you're my lady, I'm your fool
It makes me crazy when you act so cruel
Come on, baby, let's not fight
We'll go dancing, everything will be all right

Wake me up before you go-go
Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo
Wake me up before you go-go
I don't want to miss it when you hit that high
Wake me up before you go-go
'Cause I'm not plannin'' on going solo
Wake me up before you go-go
Take me dancing tonight
I wanna hit that high (yeah, yeah, baby)

(Jitterbug)
(Jitterbug)

Cuddle up, baby, move in tight
We'll go dancing tomorrow night
It's cold out there, but it's warm in bed
They can dance, we'll stay home instead

(Jitterbug)

Wake me up before you go-go
Don't leave me hanging on like a yo-yo
Wake me up before you go-go
I don't want to miss it when you hit that high
Wake me up before you go-go
'Cause I'm not plannin' on going solo
Wake me up before you go-go
Take me dancing tonight
Wake me up before you go-go, don't you dare to leave me hanging on like a
yo-yo
Take me dancing

(Boom-boom-boom)

The Ren and Stimpy Soundtrack is a great pick me up, and it jams.

If I need to wallow a little it's "Like the Weather" by 10,000 Maniacs

Almost any Rush song will do that for me. Especially.

The Spirit Of The Radio
Tom Sawyer
YYZ
Limelight
Free Will
Natural Science
Dreamline
Red Sector A
Leave That Thing Alone

Yeah, a lot more, but can't remember enough.

Mrs. Blaileen by Primus, not uplifting but very dark.

Get the Los Lonely Boys cd and try to be sad; it is impossible.

"Not Tonight"

"My Only Friend"

All by Slapstick, best ska/punk band ever. Good for getting your pent up energy out to as well.

Plus, I'm always in the mood for London Calling by the Clash.

Dave Matthews Band - Best Of What's Around - Audio Clip : http://stores.musictoday.com/store/b...hatsAround.asx

Hey my friend
It seems your eyes are troubled
Care to share your times with me
Would you say you're feeling low and so
A good idea would be to get it off your mind

See, you and me
Have a better time than most can dream
Have it better than the best
And so can pull on through
Whatever tears at us
Whatever holds us down
And if nothing can be done
We'll make the best of what's around

Turns out not where but who you're with
That really matters
And hurts not much when you're around

If you hold on tight
To what you think is your thing
You may find you're missing all the rest
She run up into the light surprised
Her arms are open
Her mind's eye is

Seeing things from a
Clearer side than most can dream
On a better road I feel
So you could say she's safe
Whatever tears at her
Whatever holds her down
And if nothing can be done
She'll make the best of what's around

Turns out not where but what you think
That really matters
And hurts not much when you're around

Bush - Glycerine
Dave Matthews Band - Where Are You Going
Metallica - Nothing Else Matters
Metallica - Fade To Black
Green Day - Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)

That's what I listen to when I'm feeling down.

Peace,
Graeme

EDIT: Also, 'Don't Forget Me' by Red Hot Chili Peppers.
