Picking my guitarist's gear.

We play heavy rock. Techinical stuff. Like PTH and BTBAM and all.

So here's what I picked out:

Ibanez Prestige RG1520G
Marshall AVT50X
Boss GT-8

And he should be set, right?

And will make stupid decisions. He's a great guitarist, and I mean GREAT, but never had quality gear. He's kinda new to shopping. Like how my dad helped me pick out a Fender Jazz I love so dearly. Which i'm selling for a Spector Euro 5LX, versatility reasons.

I'd ditch the multi in favor of standalone effects. A couple good ODs and a mod are all he's going to need, why distract him with options?

Also Peavey's VK212 will kick a lot more ass than that Marshall, and probably be cheaper.

Those Prestiges are great.

Well he's absolutely in love with Chin's tone.

Can't say i'm not as well though.

And this is an understandably-priced, awesome sounding, all you really need rig.
