So I don't know if anyone has seen this but apparently there are talks of a movie about Pink Floyd in the works. And Hollywood has deemed none other than Ashton Kutcher to play our very own Roger Waters. I guess I can see the physical resemblance but I don't know how I feel about Michael Kelso playing one of my favorite bass players. Check it out here for yourself. They even have Johnny Depp playing Syd Barrett. If this ends up happening it looks pretty cool. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pink_Floyd:_The_Movie

Who knows, maybe the guy can actually act. David Schwimmer surprised the hell out of me in Band of Brothers, after all. Keannu Reaves has actually done some good work despite California Dude image. I think casting a proffesional guitarist as David Gilmour is a good move, as well. Cameron Crowe does good work--this should be interesting.
I'd love to see a Pink Floyd movie biography. The band's past reads like a soap opera, and won't even need embellishment.

I did some Google searches, and I don't see any real news source that has reported on this. IMDB doesn't list this movie at all. Even Wikipedia shows that it's in dispute. I'm guessing that the whole thing is the writing of a bored teenager.

I would NOT pay to see a Pink Floyd movie. It would be incredibly boring. I've read one band biography on them, and bits and pieces of others. Unless they take some extreme liberties to make an interesting film, it will more likely than not be extremely dull.
Besides, I don't know if Ashton Coochner is ugly enough to be Roger Waters.

Meanwhile, here's the sources, which may or may not be just as (in)accurate: http://www.outlog.org/articles/2006/...the-movie-2008 http://www.rottentomatoes.com/vine/s...?t=505198&f=35
Note the article from Rotten Tomatoes lacks a source. The Cameron Crowe and Johnny Depp quotes are uncharacteristically bland, and I don't think Cameron Crowe would think that Pink Floyd was lacking in any credit for psychedelic rock. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
