You could check out the manual on Korg's website.

When the light scrolls slower, it's getting closer to the pitch. It comes to a stop when you are on the note.

Left to right means flat, right to left means sharp.

YES.

Mine was on strobe mode when I got it and I couldn't for the life of me work out how to tune with it! Might have another look tomorrow if it really is more accurate..

Not trying to stir the pot, but what are we basing the idea that it's more accurate in Strobe mode? It sounds from the manual like it's just a difference in display, not performance. Are we saying that the display makes it easier to get an accurate tuning (not sarcastic, I think that might be possible)?

I use mine in 'meter' mode and have been very happy with it's accuracy, and that type of display is what I'm used to, but I'd be happy to get used to the strobe display if that works better...

Yeah, that's what I thought too--no difference in accuracy. But if it makes it easier for you to tune, right on.

Are people just thinking "Strobe tuners are more accurate than 'regular' tuners"?

If I remember right, strobe tuners are generally more accurate--but the pitchblack isn't a true strobe. It only simulates the display characteristic of a strobe.

Yeah, that was the point I was trying to make - is the Pitchblack inadvertantly 'tricking' people into thinking the strobe mode would be more accurate, even though it's not a strobe tuner?

My other point/question was that maybe, even though the tuner is not more or less accurate in one mode or the the other, might the display in one mode be more conducive to accurate tuning? Might the strobe mode (or any of the modes) do a better job than the others of showing how 'in tune' you are, even if the tuner itself functions the same way regardless?

Just some thoughts...
