Planning to Upgrade: Possible future gear

Looking into upgrading, well just about everything. I'm playing in a original band and we're going to be playing a lot of styles all mashed into one. Each member brings some different genres to the table. Overall it's going to be metal, funk, ska, reggae, thrash, rock, and punk all together (However the main genres are ska, reggae and metal). Anyway I'm thinking about these as my next buys:

P-bass (Probably a Squier for now so I can get the cabinet and head I want)

Hartke 2500 bass head
http://www.zzounds.com/item--HTK2500

Hartke VX410 cabinet or Acoustic B410 cabinet
http://www.zzounds.com/item--HTKVX410

Any suggests and opinions would be very appreciated.

P.S. I'm learning towards a sound with less highs, more lows, and barely any mids. I think it sounds good for slap and finger style IMO, but my little 1x10 combo can't handle the lows so that's sorta my main reason to upgrade.

Why not a 1x15 instead? That'll get the walls shaking.

I'd get a higher powered head. 250W is workable but it generally won't carry a big(ish) room... Especially if you're scooping your mids.

Any reason you're not looking used? Lots of good gear on the used market and you'll save some cash and/or get better gear.

@Rockingbird, Yes a 1x15 would be nice but I'm leaning towards the 4x10, maybe later one get a 1x15 to go with it.

@zachoff, No reason for not getting used, but now that you mention it I could probably snag a better head (and cab) for the same price used.

Cool... I'd suggest a G-K 400rb for the variety of music you'll be playing. Great all-around versatile amp.

That Hartke 410 is probably alright, but you can find a ton of 410s in the tb classifieds as well. I'm not really an aficionado on 410s.

I would definitely back up what was said previously and buy used. You can get much better gear for a price close to what you're looking at.

I would second the GK 400rb or even the GK 700rb-II. That one may run you a bit more, but you can get one in the $300's and you'll have plenty of power to play with.

As for a cab, I got a great Ashdown ABM410t for just a bit over $200, and it has out performed a ton of more expensive 410's I've tried. Keep looking around, there are lots of good deals out there. If possible, get the head first and try out cabs to see which one suits your sound the best. A cab will make a big difference in tone.
