If trumpet were on there, you'd get a bunch. Possibly tuba also.

I have a didjeridoo (I know, one low end rythm instrument to another!) which I never ceased playing, and tabla which I had been learning before learning bass... I have to pick up tabla again... I still do pull out my didj for beach sessions and some gigs though.

Ha! I used to play trumpet. I started on piano, though, and moved to guitar but then I picked up the bass...you all know how the story goes.

I didn't vote because the poll doesn't allow for multiple answers . . . I first started with acoustic piano, then acoustic guitar, then electric guitar, then tuba, then acoustic bass (contrabass), then 'cello, then flute before finally starting with the electric bass . . .

Chronologically: Recorder, flute, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, drums. I've never played drums as a first instrument though. And... what about singing? I've done that more or less my entire life but I started singing/gigging at the age of 17. Your voice is an instrument in its own way as well, and it takes practice to get good at it as with any other instrument.

I played alto, tenor, and bari sax. 12 years after putting down the saxophone, I still think in treble clef and sax fingering. It's been a real struggle to shift into bass clef and bass fingering, even though I've been playing bass for 16 years.

I started on a trumpet in primary school but moved into the baritone in middle and high school. I play around with the tuba and percussion but nothing serious.

Thumbs up

I did recorder at school, bit that didn't last.

I picked up guitar when I was 10. When I as 11 or 12 I switched to bass because my band needed a bassist. That one practice changed my whole life!

I played saxophone for three years in middle school band and my freshman year in high school band. Since my sophomore year I have played bass in the bands at school. I think I picked up bass about two or three years into playing saxophone. It was hard for me to learn bass clef but it didn't take to much.

You leave off the Tuba????

Started on Piano (stunk) trumpet in 4th grade, trombone and euphonium 10th grade, then tuba 11th grade, studied Tuba in college, gigged a while. Now tuba chops are outta shape. Mosta my time is being spent on bass the last year ana half...

Trombone, guitar and alto sax. I still play guitar, the winds and brass fell by the wayside (being prone to bronchitis/respiratory crap will do that).

Your poll needs to be able to accept multiple entries.

I played flute, drums, & guitar before I got around to the bass.

Voted as the one "singer" (currently). The poll would be better if multiple choices were allowed. I played (and still play) lots of instruments before I ever went to bass.
