Play keyboard parts with pedals?

Not sure where to post this...

Our lead guitar player had to leave the band and it looks like we are going to have to go 3 piece. ( guitar/bass/drums)Tryed out a couple people and it's not working out and we have gigs to cover.

Anyhoo... I am thinking I could put together a simple foot pedal/keyboard system and cover some parts. Problem is... I know nothing about what to buy. I noticed this midi controller,
http://www.americanmusical.com/item--i-FAA-MP117.html and thought I could use something like this to trigger notes or possibly even chords while hooked up to our guitar players Yamaha keyboard.

Would this work? any suggestions?

Yes, that would work.

I built my own from a Hammond pedalboard and a Cano Electronics MidiBass board for $55. It's ugly, has 13 keys, and it works well. I use it to control my DX-7 for this purpose.

Thanks for the reply!

Cool... Would the keyboard being controlled have to be somewhat advanced. I don't know what model that my guitarist has but it's no DX-7. However, It is midi or at least it has a MIDI plug in the back.

I see you made your own. Is it hard to do? If I could do this for alot less like you did that would be great.

I'm not sure if Cano is still in business...

But yes, controlling the synth is as simple as plugging it into the midi in jack.
