I've recently purchased an SX bass, 5 string Jazz copy and I am enjoying the instrument, deficiencies aside....
A buddy is a guitar player, (hey, everyone can't be perfect!) and he was wondering if the guitars available from Rondo are of equal quality as the basses? Does anyone have any experience with Rondo guitars and if so, could you please relate them?
Appreciate you stepping out of the "bass arena" for a moment and hope that this question isn't deemed to be inappropriate for this forum.
Thanks,

Really, I would expect them same quality. |

I changed the bridge - it was shredding strings - other than that its a nice instrument. gives a decent paul tone, pretty easy to play.
its not perfect - frets could use a little dressing and filing on the edges - but it's not a major issue for me.

The Agile guitars are suppose to be quite good for a little more money in a Gibson style guitar. |

My brother decided he wanted to learn some guitar about a year ago. He didn't want to spend very much for something he wasn't sure he'd take to, and so he asked me what he should get. Having heard nothing but good things about the Rondo instruments, I pointed him towards those.
He ended up buying the Agile ES-335 copy, and to be quite honest with you, I was really impressed. The one he got was better than most of the Epiphones I have come across. The only problem he's had since he got it was that the input jack came loose, but that was a quick and easy enough fix.

The frets were nice and level (no obvious high ones) but the ends weren't dressed the best. The fit, finish, tuners and bridge were equivalent to Epiphone in quality but the pickups were not as good as EPI's. Not a problem - used guitar pickups are VERY reasonable on EBay. We upgraded both those buckers to high-quality Duncan PAF clones for less than $100. |

And from what I've read, the Agile LP copies generally blow the pants off of the pricier Epiphones.

I installed a good floyd and some switches so I can use every possible pickup combination. (2 push pulls, 2 on/on/on mini switches, and a 5 way superswitch.) I eventually got a Tremsetter from someone in the classifieds on here and now it's one of my go to recording guitars.
it needed a whole lot of work but I only ended up spending about 600 bucks and it plays like a dream and can get close to the sound of pretty much anything I could ever want to play. |

That's enough of a quality endorsement for me. I rarely play it, so for the price [$170 on scratch & dent]-it was a bargain.
