Hey, im a bassist and i have a college course starting in August, on April 20th i have to go to an interview and they want me to play two contrasting bass pieces form songs, can anyone help me with songs that arent too hard but they sound good and contrasting?

listen to keb mo'.
his song 'change' has a killer bass line.
(btw, i'm assuming you are not talking about classical lines here.)
then 'crosseyed cat' by muddy waters.
a different feel entirely.
of course, you could pull out some country music...something that emphasizes whole or half notes, to show you have that kind of restraint and control.
'jocko homo' or 'mongoloid' by devo would show a slightly different side, too.
how about 'close every door' from 'joseph and the amazing technicolor dreamcoat'? a wonderfully melodic line there.
dunno if this helps, but there yuh go.

well im not a heavy metal or hard rock bassist but tell me if these soun acceptable (take in mind iove been playing since january)
