Hey guys, I'll be in San Diego starting tomorrow, Nov 13th until Friday morning. I'm down to attend a conference, so most of my days will be booked. So I'm not looking for information on any of the parks, attractions or typical daytime tourist sites. What I'm looking for is suggestions on which bars to hit at night.
I'll be in town with my brother and we're pretty serious cover band fans. We prefer the typical 70's, 80's, 90's top-40 type of stuff (as opposed to strictly jazz, blues, metal, etc). Do any of you have recommendations on decent places to hit from Sun-Thurs nights? I realize these aren't the peak nights, but I'm working with what I've got. Are there any open jams we could check out? Any TB'ers playing this week?
We're open to all suggestions. Thanks! |

Other than that, maybe BarFly in La Jolla, or if you like Jazz, there's a great latin jazz band called Yavaz that plays at Croce's on Friday nights, downtown.

You're going to want to find your way over to Bass San Diego while you're here.

We discovered the Shout House and the dueling pianos last night. We thought that was great too. And we're back at the Stage tonight for a Journey tribute band and some 80's big hair rock, so that should be a blast.
We hit the Taylor guitar factory tomorrow and may make it to Bass San Diego but that'll be a game time decision.
We haven't been kicked out of any bars yet, so so far so good. |

Hope you can make it to BSD tomorrow after your tour. You don't want to miss it. You can thrash on some Sadowskys, F Basses, Foderas, etc. I'll be there after about 3. If you make it over I can give you a ride back to your hotel.

| | | | I live in sd (ob to be exact) YOU MUST GO TO HODAD's and grab a burger..the hodads in ob. Check out sunset cliffs too..beautiful sight. The Casbah usually has some great local/touring bands. True north is a bar located in north park which is pretty fun. Tilted kilt down town if your into sports is a great sports bar with very good food (There garlic fries are amazing!..and the ladies dress nice and sexy) PM if you need more info. Cheers

Anything notable specifically in downtown? She'll be mostly in the downtown area for a few days.

We'd actually scheduled an appointment with an audiologist at 3:00 today to get ear impressions made for a set of custom in-ears. We figured since we were here on vacation we might as well get it done, as we don't have to try and break away from work, kids, etc. back home.
If we ever get back, we'll certainly take you up on the offer to show us around the BSD store. From the site it looks like a sweet place. We really enjoyed the Taylor factory too - very cool tour and great instruments. Plus the scenery on the drive out was a treat in itself.
Thanks again to all for the suggestions on bars and food. We're off to catch a band as we speak. |

If Analog is still downtown, be sure to have the pulled pork on tater tots dish....delicious indulgence. I also like Beer Co downtown across from House of Blues. +1 heart attack for Hodad's in OB and then crawl over to Pac Shores (blue neon light) for the cheapest drinks in SD. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
