Plugging metronome into amp - bad for speaker?

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently got a small Korg Metronome for use in drum practice, but it gets drowned out when I use anything other than a practice pad, and I want to be able to play the whole kit and hear it. If I plug it into my Ampeg B100R will it damage the speaker? I tried it this afternoon and the tone of the metronome makes a pop noise through the speaker and I wasn't sure if I would damage it or not.

They're not loud enough and I only get them through one ear. Even plugged into the amp and then through headphones I still can't hear them over the drums.

I should note too that buying something louder like a Tama Rhythm Watch or some sort of other click track machine isn't an option. Trying to have the cheapest solution

I can't say for sure, but I'll relate my experience. A band I was in rehearsed with a click (metronome) about once a month. We used a tuner sized metronome with a cord from the earphone out to the mixing board. We had that bad boy popping through the monitors so it could be heard above a full stage mix. It didn't do any harm back then, but I could see why you are concerned. Makes a hell of a racket doesn't it?

Yeah it does, but I can live with it. I just want to make sure it doesn't do any damage.

I just had a thought that maybe cutting the bass help some?
