It was a pretty massive hit 13 or so years ago. One of the first basslines I learned via transcription, awww...

Maybe you're just confusing it with half the songs on Pearl Jam's "Ten" album.

(Sorry, I know it's an old argument, but couldn't resist).

yeah, it was pretty much one of the biggest rock radio hits of the early/mid 90's.

It must be!!! My bro used to play that game, so chances are ive prolly heard it there. thanks

btw, great game with lots of great tracks. I got into slayer and motley crue because of 'raining blood' and 'too young to fall in love' from the gta tracks. love it when they play 2 minutes to midnight

Stone Temple Pilots are also known as the Stone Gossard Pilots (Stone being one of the guitarists for Pearl Jam) because they are very often accused of ripping riffs and play style from him.

I had heard that they were a lounge act that quickly jumped on the grunge bandwagon in the 90's. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I never understood the Pearl Jam comparison, unless you're talking about them both being far above average rock bands, which they are/were.

have you heard any STP since the 1st album? They were very often accused of being a PJ ripoff when they only had 1 album.

I can see where critics were coming from on the 1st album 'cause weiland sang a lot like vedder on the 1st album, but since then his range has opened up a lot, while vedder still pretty much mumbles a lot. And I never heard what they were talking about in regards to the music. STP sounded like hard rock w/ some sorta-jazzy chords thrown in, and PJ was blues grunge.

Yeh... it's funny how some people might find stp and pearl jam to be the same thing... i love both bands and their songs seem really different to me, although of course i can tell they are similar. But then again, i think it's got a lot to do with tastes... a friend of mine is a huge fan of acdc, and i always tell him to bother him that every song is the same... but each one is different to him.. same thing happens to me with hardcore metal bands...
and that video on storytellers was really nice! it seems funny to me though that the audience has to be sitting down and they don't stand up and dance... i wouldnt like to be playing that song and have the whole audience sitting down.

STP freakin kicks ass. They are one of those bands that i didn't pay attention to when they were on top because i was "too cool". I've recently gone back and gotten into them. I love their stuff. Such a great band and such great bass playing. I think the only similarity between them and PJ is the way he sang Plush on the recording. If you listen to him live, like on the above video, he clearly sounds nothing like EV. Weiland is an AMAZING singer. Great band. period.

Oh, I wasn't trying to bad mouth them in anyway, just giving a bit of a factoid about the whole Stone Gossard Pilots deal.

What STP developed into in their last 4 albums is no where near PJ , infact I think Weiland is far more talented vocalist.

I like the new, cleaned up Weiland in Velvet Revolver.

I can't stand that silly Slither dance he does though.

Is it me or does Weiland sound much better with STP than with VR?
not to mention he turned more 'feminine', too
