I am a good reader (especially when the pitches are diatonic).
Syncopated 16th note rhythms give me a little trouble, but I can figure them out.

Anyone have any suggestions on good methods for learning? |

21 years of not using it, and I lost it. | Yeah I could do the same when I played bassoon in band, but if you asked me to play through the changes you would have received a blank stare, so I guess its a trade off right now.

| | | | Treble clef I can sight read exceptionally on my trumpet. Bass clef I get tripped up sometimes since I don't have as much experience reading bass clef |

| | | | I can read very slowly, but I know the rythmic part of it pretty well, and I'm terrible at reading parts that are constantly high on the ledger lines-it makes me go down to the G or F clef and do the ol' countin' game.

| | No Longer Works a Day Job | | Join Date: Jun 2000 Location: USA | | | I can sight read pretty well in bass clef. When it comes to reading a head [in treble]-i'm getting better, the main thing that throws me off is the ledger lines.
This past year at school, i got to knock all the rust off of my treble clef reading skills thanks to Music Theory classes. I think the only people in my class that were happy whenever an example [whether for voice or just anaylsis] was in bass clef were the other 3 bass players and I.
take it easy.

But luckily I have no need. I play country! The 'Nashville number system" is a lot more useful.
