Portable Tuner Recommendation

Sign in to disble this ad
I need a recommendation for a good portable tuner. I've used a Korg 30, but it stopped working the second time I used it, so I tossed it across the room. I now have a Sabine AX-3000 which seems to work ok, but sometimes you have to pluck the string 8-10 times before it even registers. Even though it says it won't leave a residue on your bass (it uses something like double sided tape to attach it to your bass), I find that it's leaving sticky stuff on my bass! So I'm looking to get a tuner that's reliable and easy to use. I don't want to spend a ton of money and a rack tuner is probably overkill for my purposes.

Oh no! You're off topic! They'll tear you up!

I use a Fender PT100 and it works great. $49.99

If you don't need an output on your tuner, this one works pretty well:
http://www.zzounds.com/item--KORCA30
and you shouldn't have to pay more than $20 plus change at your
local store. I use one and have found out the hard way that they
can take a lickin' and keep on tickin'.

There's also another version that's a little less expensive made for
guitar/bass. It's silver in color, and basically the same setup.
A couple AAA batteries, and you're all set.

Good luck.

I've had a Boss TU-12 for 10 years and I love it, works great with my 5-string basses. I can't borrow anyone elses tuner, because they drive me insane. It is a little more expensive than some of the others out there though.

+1 on the Boss TU-2

A little more expensive, but I've had one for 12 years and it is absolutely rocksolid.

Wouldn't mind one of those Robostomps though....

That's the one I had that stopped working the second time I used it.
