Is it possible to make a king crimson tribute band without the chapman stick?

We want to cover all crimson eras so I dunno if that can be done with my bass where the chapman stick that levin or trey gunn's warr guitar are playing.

If you have a bass that's set up right, the requisite chops, and a lot of signal processing, I don't see why it wouldn't be possible.

Have you tried playing any of those Levin or Gunn parts on your bass? How's it sound?

It's not like you guys are going to dress up like KC and do the full-on Beatlemania tribute thing, right? So who cares whether you're holding a Stick? All that matters is that you can play the part.

I don't think so. Part of the look of the band is the stick or Warr...

I have to ask: Where exactly do you expect to get a gig? I *love* KK, but I'm not so confused as to think that a bar would want to hear it...

I don't even think KK can draw a crowd anymore...never mind a tribute act.

If you don't think King Crimson can draw a crowd, you haven't been paying attention. They pull in a thousand or so here in America, and THOUSANDS everywhere else. That is, in the rare times they tour, that is.

King Crimson tribute

King Crimson tribute band The Great Deceivers always packs the clubs.
They play 21st CSM, Starless, Lament, The Nightwatch, Larks 2, The Talking Drum, Red, Thela Hun Ginjeet, 3 OAPP, One more red nightmare, Exiles, Vrooom Vrooom, Dinosaur, Fracture, etc.... on normal bass, no stick. Next show is on April 6th, 2012 with Rush tribute band Caress of Steel at Paladinos in Tarzana California.
