Is it possible to play *too much* bass?

I just realised today how much bass I actually play...

Monday is double bass with county wind band

Tuesday is band practice with my main band (writing session only, no amps allowed)

Wednesday is jamming with the side project

Thursday band practice with my main band (practicing old covers, getting up to scratch on new material)

Friday is double bass with county string orchestra

Saturday is band practice with my main band (run through of the set for our next gigs)

Sunday I play bass at the local church.

it probably seems like nothing to some of you guys, but that's a good 2-3 hours per day... and that's not including all the practice and bedroom jamming I do, or any of the gigs, which is about once per week these days.

ah crazy crazy. can you play too much bass? I feel my studies might be neglected, but on the other hand, I know I wouldn't spend the time studying, I'd just spend it thinking about playing bass.

it's only too much if you begin to not enjoy it.

I normally practice with my bands on Wed., Thurs. and Sunday.......and I normally gig most every Fri. and Sat. night. So most weeks Mon. and Tues. are my only free days. Sometimes I enjoy a few days off but other times I wish I were playing.

if you're single with no kids, and have nothing else to do, then no.
when our band is in full swing, i probably get one free day in a week. i usually end up practising or recording my own stuff. fortunately, i am single with no kids and i work a full-time job, so i don't worry too much about it.
heck, if i could do music 24/7 and pay the bills, i would do it without hesitation.
you're the best judge as to whether you're neglecting something else that is important in your life. IMO, the one thing i know i tend to neglect is my health (proper eating, sleep, etc.).

2-3 hours a day? I'll be getting paid to play bass about 4 hours a day next semester, then at night it's another 4 hours of sessions, and maybe a couple practice hours afterward. So 10 hours a day, that'll be sweet.

I wish I had that much bass playing to do. I would love to have a few bands on the go.
