I remember a good friend of mine from a few years back now telling me about his "track of the week", every week. The thread about your ONE all-time favourite song reminded me that there's probably no such thing for most of us, right? But we all have a track of the week, perhaps.
What's your number one favourite track, just this week?

Come on guys, I need some suggestions for expanding my collection. I've just got into buying downloads from Amazon and I really should be getting me some new music.
Track of the week last week for me was definitely "What Is Hip" by Tower of Power (had to nail it for a gig), but this week it's probably been "Wack Wack" by Buddy Rich. Older school big band stuff, but I'd call it pretty funky jazz (whereas the ToP stuff I'd class as just slightly jazzy funk). So, recommend me some stuff.

Probably not your cup of tea, and I wouldn't have chosen it either, but I had to learn it for one of my gigs and now I can't get it out of my head. Nice opening with the 6-string bass, though, and a lot more of an interesting bass line than most of what I play at church. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fAQJ8pTt7o

The whole album is great IMHO. It's a free download on the M-Base website too. |

been listening to it a lot lately, love the whole drama album.

Good stuff.I really like Trevor Horn's fretless bass on "Run Thru the Light".
FYI John:They did been play "Tempus Fugit" and "Machine Messiah" on their most recent American tour.I guess they can do that now without Jon in the band. There are some decent clips on Youtube from that tour.
Which is good.I didn't get to go.

it was funny too, my drummer and i both shared a small chuckle during tempus fugit - they sorta got wonky on the same parts of the song that used to give us problems too (some of the transition stuff between sections has some really tricky, cool time sig things going on). it being their song, they were, of course, allowed.

For me it is "Four Word Letter" by mewithoutYou, mainly the one off of their demo "I never Said I was brave", but the version off of "catch for us the foxes" has a great vocal solo on it.

That Brubeck track is very cool, too - ta! Joe Morello REALLY swings even in 5/4. He should probably have had a quiet word with this guy... http://www.ehow.com/video_2372923_re...ing-music.html
