Is it safe to plug my amp in to a power strip or similar device? A friend of mine was telling me about his dad ruining his stereo because of it being plugged in to a power strip with a bunch of other stuff. It got me wondering if it's safe for me to do that. My head is rated at 1200W @ 2 ohms, but I'm running a load of 2.67. I don't play very loudly that often, but there are certain occasions that call for increased volume.
I would prefer to be on the safe side of things. I can't always get access to my own outlet and end up sharing with one of my guitarists.
Also, would a power conditioner help my situation? I've done some searching and I haven't gotten a very good understanding of what they do. It sounds like they protect against voltage peaks, but that seems like the opposite of what I'm mostly worried about.
