Power Supply question

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all,
I bought a used Micron and I need to get a power supply. Alesis says I need a 9VAC @ 1.5A, 110V (US)
Would any 9V power supply work for this? I have one of those interchangeable power supplies from radio shack that has a 9V 120V

but nowhere can I find this exact power supply and Alesis wants 40 for it!!

This might work:

That was just a quick search from google. Anything that puts out 9VAC and at least 1.5A should work...

No, it needs to put out at least 1.5 amps, which would be 1500 milliamps.

What size and format connector does Alesis spec? I'll be happy to help you find one once you give all the needed details.

make sure that whatever you use is 9VAC

if you use 9VDC something very bad may very likely happen.

I think the real trick is going to be able to find both 9VAC and 1.5mA.

I'm not sure if it's the proper plug, but I think this L6 adapter will work

If you decide to go with an aftermarket power supply, remember that some various devices require the use of power supplies with an (unusual) reversed-wired output plug. (as in power on the outside and ground in the center)
Many electrical devices dont appreciate receiving reverse polarity...

Double check your "Micron" to be absolutely sure about its power requirements. Some devices have a diagram right next to their power inlet showing the corect plug polarity along with the voltage/amperage requirements, and some dont say squat.

Generally a good point, but polarity is a non-issue with AC, which is what's need here.

Dan:You can go to Radio Shack with the Micron and they'll have a variety of plugs you can try plugging into your Micron to see what size it is. They can very likely order a workable supply if they don't have one in stock.

Personally, I'd seriously consider paying Alesis the 40 bucks and calling it a day.
