Power trio/3 piece band club?

Sign in to disble this ad
I tried to search here but couldn't find anything, is there a club for those of us that play in power trios/three piece bands? I happen to love playing in a three piece, more money and "no where to hide" - I have to play my best and it pushes me to play better. Anyone else?

I have done the power trio setup in several different bands over the years and that is my favorite lineup to play in. Definitely makes you play harder and fill it up more. My current 3 piece band just reached our 8th anniversary this month and well over 600 gigs. We all sing lead and harmony as well, which makes us sound fuller too. We get many compliments about having a big full sound and sound like 5 or 6 people. Sometimes, people think we use tracks; but, we never use any tracks. Last year, we were voted the best band and performers in the region and won out over groups with 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9 pieces. Love the power trios.

I guess there is no trio club on TB, maybe its time we start one. We both know the dynamics in playing in the 3 piece is much different, maybe we can all share how we fill out the sound and make things sounds great.

I now know that I will likely only play in 3 piece bands for the rest of my life. It just makes more sense. You make more money. You have less schedule hassles. There is only two other people in the band so there is less chance for band drama.

I'm in a power trio, we play Punk influenced Heavy Metal. I couldn't imagine playing with anymore people.

Sounds like there are a few on TB. There are several really good 3 piece bands in our area. Count me in the group.

OK, I'll start an official power trio/3 piece club thread since it seems we are lacking one.

EDIT: I started the club thread here: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showth...00#post7886600
