Practice Amp too close to Laptop?

Sign in to disble this ad
Currently I put my bass practice amp (15W) on the floor underneath the table (table1) where my laptop sits

I am thinking about moving it to another table (table2) right besides table1 so that its easier for me to access some of the knobs and also hear the sound better, since the speaker will be like at my head level (when sitting down) instead of my shin level.

Will there be any damage to my laptop? Is there a "too close" guide for speakers and laptops?

Hi.

I haven't done any empirical studies about it, but for unshielded speakers like the ones in majority of MI amps, about 50cm would be more than enough to be on the safe side.

For huge magnets and/or neodymium motors, perhaps a bit more, but I doubt that.

Regards
Sam

Just don't sit your laptop on the speaker cabinet. This could have adverse effects on your laptops hard drive, like in demagnebtizing it

I am actually more worried about the sound wave that creates resonance or something and shakes my laptop instead of the magnetive waves!

+1 ^

I'd be concerned with shaking damage, or vibrations loosening a solder or knocking the computer off it.
