Practicing/learning multiple instruments

I've been playing bass guitar for about 8 months or so. Bass has opened up a whole interest in music for me.
I started playing clarinet in 5th grade for about 3 months, until I quite due to me not wanting to play it. I still have it and a box of reeds I am suddenly interested in playing it after hearing it a lot in Jazz.
I also have a piano that I am highly interested in playing.

Would it be wise to start learning one or more instruments while continuing to progress in bass?

I don't see why not. There'll be a lot of crossover in them, anyway. Plus, it might help you gain more insight into your position in a band through other instruments.
