Could I have some lyrics though? Maybe a translation? I've only got 2 years of High School Spanish (though I'll take a complete 4 before I graduate) and I'd like miss any subtleties in the lyrics, or misinterpret them. |
thanks!
Not very substantial lyrics on this song I'm afraid... It's called No me maten soy Giordano, "Don't kill me I'm Giordano". Giordano is a very famous local hairstylist, famous because he started organizing fashion shows every year, this fashion shows got bigger and bigger every year. A few years ago he got beat up by hooligans when he went to see a football (soccer) match.
I'll repeat there's no fun in being beat up, but this guy is very weird and while he is very succesfull he has always been sort of a laughingstock. When describing the event to the media, he said "i kept telling them don't kill me, I'm Giordano, but they just kept hitting me". He apparently didn't realize that was the reason he was beat up for. The phrase became very common use and famous here in argentina. (our song didn't)
here's the lyrics and translation (i'm using spanish "acentos", tell me if you can't see them then i'll edit this). Not a very good example of spanish use either...
El no va más, se las van a pagar
qué barbaridad, besar Udaondo*
quién fue, no sé. Ni a palos borró su voz
y sin disparar él lo reconoció
no pudo contar, él sabe cómo bailó
pasó a preguntar pero aquél se escapó
no pudo cobrar, ni una moneda donó
ahora en Pinamar* lanzó su colección
Cruel!
cómo puede ser,
cruel!
un desfile sin él
eso hoy no lo puedo creer
He won't go no more, they're gonna pay for it
how outrageous, to kiss Udaondo*
Who was it, don't know. He'll never erase (forget) his voice
and without shooting he recognized him
he wasn't able to tell, he knows how he "danced"
came by to ask but the guy escaped
he couldn't collect, didn't give one coin
now in Pinamar* he launched his collection
Cruel!
How can this be,
Cruel!
A fashion show without him
this today i can't believe (imagine)
*Udaondo is the name of the street next to the football (soccer) stadium where this guy got beat up. He got beat up by River Plate fans, the local team in that match, he's a fan of Boca Juniors, these teams are the 2 biggest teams in Argentina and are long time rivals.
*Pinamar is a beach city in Argentina, where this guy organized many of his fashion shows.
