Price settings for used gear

Sign in to disble this ad
I have some gear listed on craigslist at approx 1/2 of what the same or compariable piece of gear would sell for new. I'm not getting many hits on the rig. How do you set prices? If it is not against fourm rules I would post the gear and the price (or just the link to the listing) for assitance. I am not looking to make a bunch of money or give it away. I just want to set a price that is fair to me and the buyer.

If it's in good shape I always go 1/2 retail or a bit higher. I hate it when you see 6 year old crap in so so condition on E-Bay for $100.00 off list! Really steams my asparagus!

I think it is in good shape and I would work with the price if I got offers.

There's really no set rule for setting prices. Check ebay, see what they're going for used. And knock a few bucks off of that because you don't have the national exposure with using Craigslist or another local classified.

A Rickenbacker would fetch almost as much used as new, as long as it's in good shape. Also depends on color, demand for that color (black guitars are more common, generally sell for less, but are easier to get rid of than a blue, which is less common, and might be worth more, IF you can find a potential buyer)

It's all a matter of what people want, and what you have. Modifications -- don't expect to get any money out of them, and maybe even lose a few bucks depending on what you did.

Sometimes it just takes a while to sell stuff. It's worth the $$ to become a supporting member to sell your stuff here.

And then there's always eBay.
