Pro Gear?

Ok, I'm not really in the know.. My friends (except one) aren't musical in any way. I just play my bass and am content.. but I always see things like 'must have pro gear'.. or something.

So my question is:

What exactly does 'pro' gear entail?

Pro gear entails anything IMO that can be gigged heavilly, will withstand the abuse, and is loud enough (as far as amps) to be able to do small to medium sized gigs without PA support.

Yep. In otherwords, gear similar to what a pro would use.
