pronunciation...

I've wondered this for a while, how do you pronounce some of those company names?
Names like:Rickenbacker
Ibanez
Aguilar
Schecter
Gallien Krueger

I'm sure There's more, but I can't think of them now.

You could probably do a search and find a similar thread with all those same names in it.

Anyway though this is how I say them:

Rick-in-bocker
Eye-bah-nez (proper spanish pronunciation would be Ee-bahn-ez)
Ah-gee-lar (it's not "ah-gwee-lar" because in spanish the 'u' is silent in the cases of "gui" and "gue")
Sheck-ter (that's all I've ever heard..I'm sure it would be more guttural in Germany)
Gally-en Crew-ger, I've also heard the similar Gal-yen crew-ger

That's how I say 'em.

I'd imagine they're pronounced the way they're spelled. Think of the composer Bach. Add "Ricken" to the front of it and an "er" at the end.

Ibanez is "eye" banez.

If you've ever heard Christina Aguilera's name pronounced- replace the "era" with an "ar."

Take the 'r' out of Shrek and add a "ter" at the end.

"Gay-Lee-en" and then I guess Krueger is up for grabs! "kreeger" or "krooger"

Thanks. Wow, I've been butchering some of these words pretty bad.

For the longest time, I pronounced both Epiphone and Epifani as 'epiphany'.

Until recently, I always thought Lakland (pronounced Lake-land) was pronounced Lack-land... I guess these things happen when one's first exposure to a proper noun is in written form.

I've always said "pee-a-zo" (with "a" as in "hay" and a hard "o" as in "toe"). That's actually one that can be looked up in the dictionary.

w00t!

I say Rickenbacker just as it's written - "back" as in "quarterback" and all.

Oddly enough, I'd say "Epifani" as "epiphany" too, but Nick Epifani pronounces it "EPpy-FAHnee".

I've heard similar about Aguilar being "Ag-wuh-lar" - But I say "Aggie-lar"

Piezo is indeed "Pee-AY-zoh". The king of butchered instrument-related words.

And of course there's Pedulla - I say "Puh-DOO-luh" but have heard even "PED-yu-luh", perhaps from a Brit now that I think about it.

For the longest time I pronounced Rickenbacker as "Rick-en-bock-er", but the proper pronounciation is how it's written. I still can't break the habit though. :/

I always thought piezo was "pee-zo". I guess it's just because I speak german too, and "ie" in german is pronounced like saying the letter E "ee."

I agree with whoever said it, the most butchered instrument related word is definantly piezo.

It's Italian, I believe.

There's a line over the first 'a' on the Lakland logo, it's nice of them to try to help I guess.

Question How about wenge?

I've always said WHENJ as in rhymes with stone henge.

I've also heard WHEN-gay and VEN-gay.

Rickenbacker is just how its spelled. Rick-en-back-er

Thats how John Hall pronounces it...so it must be right...you dont want to encourage the wrath of JH.
