What, in your opinion, are the best amp settings for a pop-punk band?

for pop-punk? power - "off"...

no, seriously, i have no idea. i've found the best thing is to find what you like, midrange level being the most important. if you think of your favorite bass players and how they sound, it's always something individual about it that impresses you. make up your own monster settings, is what i say.

No scoop.
Highs at 7-8
Mids at 10
Bass at 5-6
Volume up high.
Lots of presence on your bass.
Pick near the bridge.

Sadly, I know the answer:

whatever.

Just put in your earplugs and turn your amp on and make sure it cuts through. Use the treble knob. It should sound pretty bad to most of us. But the genre dictates this, and if you wanna be effective, bite the bullet and sound like shizit.

I usually keep my settings at about 6/6/6....though I play the six string in my pop punk band. I've been known to take treble and mid even higher in some cases.

Traditionally punk uses a lot of mids.....but punk is also about doing your own thing, so just go with what you like.

My amp goes to 15, but it also goes to -15. What do I do?

I don't mean to be a jerk, but...if you have to ask you're not doing it right. That's kind of the point.

Well, my amp is weird... it kicks ass but it's settings aren't normal. They range from -15 to 15. It's a 100 Watt Fender 115. Extremely loud for the size.

I usually keep the mids and treble high while playing pop-punk.
And if you have a jazz bass solo the neck pick-up.

I would say, cut the bass, low mids, a little mid, and boost the highs mid and Treble.
Also, play through the smallest guitar amp you can find and mic it up. Be sure it causes alot of feedback in between songs. Viola! Lol... Or you could pull a "Sid".

With your specific amp, when all the knobs are facing 12 o clock (straight up) that's at 0. Turn the bass up a little, the mids up all the way and the highs up a little more then the bass.

Wait..you can change the settings on an amp???

Seriously, there are so many amps available and each has it's own charactor. Couple that with the endless bass options and rooms where you play, and..well there really is no definitive answer. Expierimenting is part of the fun. Twist some knobs until you hear something that you like, and then you will have a better idea of what each one does to your signal. I used to dial in extreme settings on my old tube amps, but now, with my Eden, a little tweak can change the sound dramatically.

+1 - one of my best mates plays bass in a punk band, and the guitarists are both going to study music (both of which listen to gypsy jazz by choice over all other styles of music) and the bassist is one of the greatest Jaco and fusion in general enthusiasts going.

Edit: As for settings - its all in the mids! lots of mids. the bass and treble are usually on half, and the mids up full for me. tho ofc it depends on just about everything!
