Well, I'm a diehard fan of Ska and Punk so I figured I'd take a look here and see if any of you bassists also go for Ska/Punk.

Some of my favorite bands, bold ones are my main favorites at the moment,

Bad Religion
Big D and the Kids Table

more into ska roots / dirty reggae bands...

The Slackers
Hepcat
Aggrolites
Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra
Skalariak
Ska-P

Also older stuff... Desmond Dekker, Skatalites etc.

And some 2-tone... The Specials...

And 3rd wave... Mighty Mighty Bosstones...

But I'm not really into the "Ska-punk" scene, although since I play in a ska band, we get to share the stage with a lot of ska punk bands. As long as we respect each others.

For the record, I play trumpet in a ska roots band: The Skopitones

(I play bass for fun in my basement... trumpet is my main instrument)

Their bass player can hold her own against anyone, male or female.

Thanks Body! We're gonna record a few more songs later this fall, hopefully!

Oreskaband: I like, but it's a tad too "pop" for me. I mean I enjoy it, just not listening to it continually

Great song. They played that song live in Chicago on the warped tour. They sound just as tight live as in the videos.

I can't find much of any music that I can listen to constantly

Anyone like Locust?

The Living End in my car stereo right now. Other recently listened-to cds include NOFX, Flogging Molly, Pez Stomp (J-ska), Catch 22, and a few random punk compilations.

Pretty much all the first list.

Emphasis on Rx Bandits and Bouncing Souls.

Many great bands mentioned, but it's hard to imagine how The Specials could have been neglected.

I like those from the original list. Plus Tilt, Bracket, Ten Foot Pole.

I don't think Lighting Bolt really quite fits with these, but they rule as well.

Just go browse the Fat roster and you'll see a ton of good bands.

This also applies to Red Scare as well.
