Quality Mic Stands.......

Sign in to disble this ad
I am not that happy with the el cheapo $19.99 stands that my local music store carries. They are flimsy and easily knocked over. I am looking for some good quality tripod mic boom stands that are quality. I need about 5-6 stands. I would be willing to spend about $50.00 per stand. Would also like to find a good bag to store them in as well. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Gibralter, and Ultimate.....look for the lightweight tripod stands with the "Weighted bulb" at the legs. These are much more stable than say the on-stage variety. You can usually find them for about $35 to $45 each. Good luck

K&M stands are good and reliable. It's probably the most popular brand over here. I'd be careful with lightweight (e.g. aluminum) stands as they usually break easier and have a flimsier feel than the steel ones.

I would recommend a flightcase type of box with wheels instead of a bag. A few stands weigh a lot so the wheels are really nice to have. Also, if it gets very heavy, two people can carry the box together in stairs etc. It's not very difficult to build a suitable box either, and by doing it yourself you're likely to save some money.

I've got some killer Peaveys. They're about 8 years old though. Not sure if they still make quality mic stands these days.
