Queen referencing the Beatles

So I'm listening to "I'm In Love With My Car" by Queen, and I start thinking, the end of this song always struck me as an obvious tribute to "Piggies" by the Beatles...but it's not like they're similar songs otherwise, what's the connection? So I google it and am shocked to not find it mentioned anywhere.

Queen at 3:00 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9JuAx_CB6o
Beatles at 1:50 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXdKlpBOvs0

I can't possibly be the first person to hear this since 1975. The Beatles are the most exhaustively discussed group in history, and A Night At The Opera is by far Queen's most famous (non-compilation) album.

Is it my imagination?

Harrison said (in the Yellow Submarine movie): "It's all in the mind."

I have the Classic Album Series DVD on "Opera".
In it, Roger Taylor admits they were going for a "White Album" type of eclectic vibe, with the various musical styles on it. Very informative & entertaining documentary.

I sort of hear what you are getting at.

Along those same lines, I've always found The Police's "Every Breath You Take" and Leo Sayer's "More Than I Can Say" to be remarkably similar.

Yes, it's your imagination. That's a common progression, so you could make the same case for thousands of songs.

Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm not usually one of those this-song-sounds-like-that-song guys.

But...it's not a chord progression that occurs within the rest of either song. Both songs fade out, then up comes the coda resolve with those same chords (in the same key) out of nowhere, then the unaccompanied grunting/revving to finish.

To me, that is the one song on Opera that keeps that album from being perfect. On the other hand, I love Piggies and The White Album.

Hmm... I usually think of the generic classic rock mix of Prophet's Song when I think of low points on the album.
