First of all, what a sparse, terrible issue -- for that reason, I didn't buy it. But that aside - in their "BP Recommends" section, they talk about a bass centric album release from the peeps that did the soundtrack for the Oceans 11/12/13 movies. I forgot the name of the band/album and I'd like to pick it up - can someone with a copy please check it out? I went to their website but it hasn't been updated since Feb of 09. Not suprising though.
Thanks in advance.

Well I do not know about all of that. I read Bass Player for many years, and got tired of reading pretty much the same interviews. And I do not read TAB so that did not do it for me either. Well let me tell you of the latest and LAST encounter I had with B.P magazine. and know this is fact based, NOT conjecture. On 05-28-2009 my wife decided to order a subscription to B.P. magazine for me as a gift. I had received an advertisement from the circulation/advertising dept of the magazine offering 1 year for $15.00, Plus some other additional publication called "play bass" for free with a paid subscription. Well, my wife decided that in order to "speed things up" she ordered the subscription online, as opposed to through the mail. This ended up costing $18.99 for 12 issues, and NO additional publication was included ??? O.K. so she got an -mail confirmation on 5-28-2009 stating that the order had been processed, and the magazine would be mailed on 6-12-2009. Great she thought, I should get the first issue by "Fathers Day". WRONG. the end of June comes, still no magazine. So I sent an e-mail requesting information on6-30-09. I got a recpt. acknowledgment, and was told I would be contacted by someone in customer service within 72 hours. SEVEN DAYS later I get an e-mail saying that my order was placed on 5-30-2009, and it takes 4-6 weeks processing time, before the first issue will be mailed. Now I am advised that the August issue will be mailed to me on 07-16-2009. I am not too pleased and reply to the e-mail, stating that 1> they have the order date wrong, and they got the money off of my wife's card quickly enough. And 2. They already told me my first magazine would ship on 6-12-2009, Oh yeah and what about the 72 hr. response time ? I got a recpt. acknowledgment and another promise of 72 hour response. I have not gotten a response YET, So today 7-22-2009, I Googled, and foung a phone # for customer service @ B.P.,and called them. I spoke to a lady that told me she does not understand why I have not gotten my magazines, that she would look into that....... after being on hold she told me that my order was placed on 6-12-2009, and it takes 4-6 weeks for processing, I told her WRONG, order was placed on 5-28. After being placed on hold again, she told me BOTH of the magazines were mailed, and she does not know why I did not get them. Then she told me she would print a label, and mail out both of the magazines today, and that it will take 24-30 days for me to receive them. WRONG, I told her that since no one there seems to know what is really going on, and since they can not even get their stories straight, I wish to cancel the order, and get my money back, so I can subscribe to a different publication. This will take the infamous 4-6 weeks. I would like to point out that it took them 4-6 seconds for them to charge the credit card. Any suggestions on a decent BASS magazine that I can actually get, and hold in my hot little hand???

Again, if anyone can open their current copy and post the band/album that I'm looking for it would be much appreciated. |

Freddie Washington "In The Moment"
Ivan Bodley "Pigs Feet & Potted Meat"
Bela Fleck, Zakir Hussain & Edgar Meyer "The Melody of Rhythm"
Dave Holland, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Chris Potter, Eric Harland "The Montery Quartet: Live at the 2007 Montery Jazz Festival"
Travis Larson Band "Rate of Change Live"
Mike Stern "Big Neighborhood"
Nothing about Oceans 11 et. al.

It's an infinitely more informative magazine. Tom deservedly enjoys a reputation as someone who will always respond quickly and help if he can. http://www.bassgearmag.com/web/
Check it out.

Really cool stuff!
