Can someone tell me about the mono cases (http://www.monocase.com/mono-bass-guitar.asp). Are they good? Have someone experience with them?

Thanx

Check out Glen Cronkhite http://www.glenncronkhite.com/ He basically invented the gig bag. He hand made me a leather bag a few yrs ago. Its hands down the nicest bag I've come accross. I sold my reunion blues. He's very resonable too.

I can't also find someone in usa (online store) who send this gigbag to Greece.

I think also that incase bags are heavy (5 kg)

$200 for a bag? No thanks. I have a major problem with gig bags. What is given up in protection FAR outweighs what you gain in size reduction, ease of transport, convenience, or whatever else you want to use to justify it.

I'm a big fan of the Sadowsky Portabag which I think is the same price as the Mono bag.

But the Mono bag does look like a nice alternative.

Maybe to you, but not to me. I trust my Incase slim bag to protect my most expensive bass when traveling to rehearsals and gigs. It is exceptionally rigid and padded compared to standard gig bags. It has 90% the protection of a hard shell case, with the portability of a gig bag. I wouldn't judge a high quality gig bag like the Incase Slim bag untill you've seen one in person.

Tony, I think it's more myself and my luck that I don't trust. If I put my bass in a gig bag, something bad would happen

I hear ya. I used to be exactly the same way, until I was introduced to the Incase Slim Bag...

I take it from this post that Incase doesn't ship internationally?

Wow. I couldn't disagree more.

It is precisely because of the size reduction, ease of transport, & convenience that a gig bag is of more value to me than a hardshell case.

Now, the obvious caveat is that I be the only one handling my basses. The minute it appears another body (roadie, cartage company, airline baggage handler, production manager's girlfriend) will be touching my instruments is the minute I take them out of the gig bag and put them in hardshell cases.

Which these days is less than 10% of the time, so my Anvils are gathering dust.

Tanks!

I think I'm gonna get one, especially since the price has come down...

Wink Sadowsky Portabag...

I actually have a portabag that I have owned since late 2006 and the only thing I don't like is that the seam around the zipper has become loose. This leaves the bass vulnerable to damage because the area around the input jack is exposed. I can't think of how I've caused the bag to come apart only at the bottom seam. But then again, maybe I just gig too much with that bag and I have advanced its lifespan. Also, both straps broke on me about 7-8 months into ownership.

Otherwise, the bag protects the bass extremely well. There is a lot of room for charts, real books, CD's etc., and I can even carry my laptop and tascam bass trainer with me.

I'm now torn between the Incase bag and the Mono bag. I checked out the Mono today but haven't had a chance to check out the Incase bag. I think I'm leaning more towards the Incase bag because from what I can tell it seems to be a bit more sturdy, like the Portabag.

Any thoughts from my fellow bassists?
