Question on Jimi's Strat

If you had not heard a '68 strat owned by Hendrix was auctioned off for 168,000 on Monday 12/4. The pic says it was modified to accomadate his left handed playing......the pic to me looks like a right handed guitar. I have seen plenty of monies of hendrix playing mabey I just never paid attention,but did he just hold the guitar upside down? I dont think this is a legit pic that they posted.

It is a right handed guitar, but the strings are set up for a lefty. So he would play it upside down, but really it was the same as playing a lefty would be. I`d imagine the only mods for that would be a new nut, and the strap button. The only thing that would make me think it wasn`t legit is that fact that it looks brand spanking new. Who knows...

The modifications Hendrix made to his Strats were pretty minor. He would add a strap button to the lower horn, as can be seen in the photo you linked and replaced the nut. All other modifications were set up related, as far as I remember.

What they said. He also bent the whammy bar in the opposite direction (if you played righty guitar lefty with the stock bar, it would bend the wrong way).
