He was from the Connecticut town where I've lived the biggest chunk of my life so far. A lot of the locals, both in and out of the music scene, knew him well.

Bob, I couldn't place the name, but was sure I'd heard it before. Then, when I found this link I realized he was the guy who sang, "Town Without Pity."

Yup, that was him. He also recorded a Mick Jagger-Keith Richards tune that charted in the US before the Rolling Stones' own records did.

Curiously, the Hartford area lost two of its most renown musical artists in a span of just a couple days. Jazz great Jackie McLean died at his Hartford home earlier this week.
