One of the greats. Heard him with Wolf since I was a kid. A true innovator and humble musician.

Oh no... Such an important player, and he always seemed to be a wonderfully joyful man too.

Rest in peace, sir...

John

Came out to one of our shows about a year ago. He wasn't feeling well or he would have join us on stage. Very nice guy. RIP Hubert.

I had one of his Louis Amps signature amp for a couple of years. It did a good job of copping that old school blues tone that Hubert showcased in his playing. I let the amp go once I figured out it takes good chops to play like Hubert - LOL. May he rest in peace.

I was just thinking that millions hear Hubert Sumlin and don't realize it every time a Viagra commercial airs.

I just heard about his passing from my guitar player last night. Hubert used to come into town to play shows at The Double Door Inn here in Charlotte back in the early 90's and because my room-mate's band backed him, he used to stay at our place while he was here. One morning, after a very late night, we had breakfast together and he told me a lot of interesting stories about his earlier days. I'll call it a blues man's breakfast 'cos it was nought but whiskey and cookies.

Hubert also taught the late Sumner Burgwyn the fundamentals of playing the blues. Sumner directed the 1988 documentary "Hubert Sumlin: Living the Blues" and played bass in the band I made reference to above.

RIP Hubert.

When riding from the airport together in 2004,Hubert and his manager played me some demo cuts from his upcoming ( at the time ) album "About Them Shoes",which Keith Richards played on.

There was an acoustic tune on it,and you could tell Hubert and Keith were having a grea time playing together.

I made the comment, "Sounds like you guys might have been drinking a little."

Hubert's face lit up,as he elbowed me in the ribs and exclaimed,"NAW,BUT WE WAS HIGH!

What a cool old guy. RIP man.
