Master Luthier Phil Petillo, of Ocean Township, NJ has passed. Many of the luthier's here will know of his custom work with intricate inlays done by him and his son David (
www.petilloguitars.com). He was also a co-patent holder of the aluminum necks used by Kramer and Vacarro, and held numerous patents on musical instruments including the Petillo fret.
Phil was Bruce Springsteen's personal luthier and guitar technician. Since the early days of his career he was the only one to do work on any of Bruce's prized telecasters and broadcasters.
Phil was also an inventor of note, holding patents on medical micro devices that are used today to save lives.
My thoughts and prayers go out to David Petillo and his family at this time.
