I saw it on TV once...you end up in a "band" with other amateurs, and some of them can't even play. I'd hate to pay $5000 (or whatever they charge) to attend and then end up stuck in a band with someone who can't even play something as easy as Wild Thing. That's no rock and roll fantasy...

The key thing to remember is that you're not there to make a great band. You're there to be in a band that will make a more interesting TV show. Reality TV is all about drama queens, crash and burns, posers who eventually get exposed, people who simply don't belong there and end up looking so bad it's funny, etc. Only occasionally might you get a "Hey, they're actually good!" kind of band. Bottom line is that anyone who goes on a reality show thinking it will be a legitimate chance to look their best is an idiot.

... ahhhhhhhhhhh sorry, that came out. wrong. What I meant to say is that anyone who goes on a reality show is an idiot.

Look at this link for the R&R Fantasy Camp New York. They have Tommy James & The Shondells listed as original Woodstock Festival performers. They were never at Woodstock. They turned down the offer to perform there.
