looking for a good, well priced, rackmount tuner with a mute button. Been looking at the Korg but seen comments saying that it bleeds through the amp even with the mute pressed. any ideas?

i have the newest KORG RACK TUNER (the 2000) and it doesnt "bleed" into my sound AT ALL. and i use it in my F/X loop...the only other options are BEHRINGER and id HIGHLY SUGGEST you DO NOT BUY THIS even though i havent tried it there name is synonamous with CRAP ! PETERSON has some option +$250 but thats kinda steep even with features and theyre kinda ugly... and the FENDER ive never tried it looks solid and all, but really the KORG is a staple with even all the pros....and the new all black one is SICK !

GOOD LUCK !

I have the Behringer, and for $60.00 new in the box? I can't complain. It tunes.

If you can find a used Sabine 7000 or 7100 they are great,
but they are discontinued. Try CL and the bay.

Same here Red5, I have the behringer, got it for that same price and yep it tunes and my amp provides the tuner mute. I couldn't see dropping an extra $100 on a circuit to tell me my "A" is at 440.

Don't these tuners wreck the sound when they're in line? I heard the Korg, especially, introduces a wicked ground hum.

i've got the fender tuner, and I like it plenty. It does change the sound a bit if you run it through the front end of the preamp, but it doesn't add any noise.
Plus, it looks really cool. And it's cheaper than Korg's stuff.

My Korg DTR2000 does not bleed through at all, no hum completely quiet.

The Sabine RT-1601, which no longer is in production, can be found on eBay and music-go-round for about $100. They are rock solid, accurate and have a mute switch that can be operated on the front panel or by foot switch (I use a Hosa switch that cost about $15 new). I like the fact it uses a series of simple LED lights instead of the more garish "bars" that are bit to flashy for my tastes.

I use my Fender tuner with the tuner output on my GK head so I couldn't tell you if there was any change in tone or noise.

I've had it a couple of years now and it does exactly what it should, looks good and does the flashy Knight Rider sweep when you are not using it.

The guitarist I work with has a korg - great though it is for tuning, even when not "inline" it puts out enough hum and interference just by being in the same rack that he turns it off during the set.

Sounds like it works for some though.

I've just ordered the behringer rack tuner - cheap enough to be worth a try... How hard can it be to build a tuner? I've got a behringer pedal tuner which I use when I don't take the rack out, and it's a bit flakey on a low B (not usually a problem as I rarely play 5), but otherwise it did the job nice and cheap, so the rack version should be fine.

If someone is getting "bleed" or hum, I'd bet $100 that it's from user error.

Sometimes morons don't understand that their effect loops are wired in "parallel" rather than series, meaning the loop blends with your clean signal. These morons try to fit the round peg into the square hole and eventually gripe about it on harmony-central when they can't figure it out.

Hum, while a bit less explicit, is probably also something that's introduced by user error. I've never had hum or bleed at all whether it's in a loop or the direct path in a preamp>power amp setup.

.................My favorite, works well! You can probably get away with the Korg DTR1000 too, I have one of those, they just have less features............

So I take you that you're the one who couldn't fit it in the square hole, eh?

PMing you isn't worth my time. I'm not trying to start a pissing match. I just wish people would learn to use their gear before bashing it or leaving a faulty negative review.

Korg DTR1000 here, no complaints. I have read that the Behringer tunes very slow but have never used one personally. Perhaps the Behringer owners can comment on this one. Good luck with whichever you choose.
