It's with a heavy heart that I'm posting the below email regarding Benny Adkins who ran The Rak-Shack (totally GREAT custom rack cases for great prices). I had a custom order in a month or so ago with Benny. Benny contacted me about two weeks ago to report that he'd just found out he had cancer. Benny's wife just emailed me to inform me that he passed away on 7/04/10. I don't know if any of you have dealt with him but he was a straight up good guy selling a great product at an unheard of price. I've bought from him before and it was a pleasure to deal with him.

RIP Benny.
Barry

Hello,
My name is Anita Adkins and my husband had the Rak-Shack.
I am contacting you to tell you that my husband passed away unxpectedly on July 4.
I didn't know much about his business but I am quite certain your order wasn't filled. If you will please contact me with the amount that you paid so I can match it up with the Paypal invoice that I have, I will be happy to refund your money.

Thank you for your understanding,

Anita Adkins

Hi.

Didn't know the guy, nor his business, but losing a craftsman is always a loss to the whole community.

RIP Benny.

My condolences for the family as well.

Regards
Sam

Just linked to this from your post on my GK rig thread. What a bummer. The case I bought from him was nothing less than top notch quality, a perfect fit, great price and one of the smoothest transactions I have ever had with any seller. Thanks for the update even though it's not a good one.

Hopefully his wife will see this thread someday and realize how many people Benny touched and helped. And, sorry but I don't see myself selling the case he built for me anytime soon.

Wow, I just now saw this.
I had Benny make me two custom rack cases several months ago, and I was just planning on commissioning him for another. Benny was great to deal with, made great cases, and I'm so sorry that he's gone.
RIP Benny.
