Random Thoughts of an Insomniac Bassist

This is random but I'm rocking out (unplugged) at 2 am and this just popped in my head. You know that feeling when you've been playing a while and your fingers get warm from the friction? Thats heaven.

A couple days ago, I couldn't feel the strings under my left hand.
THAT was heaven, I tell you.

It was genuinely profound. ~

My rig is set up for practice in the basement, where it's rather cold much of the time. I tend to use 2 or sometimes 3 finger technique on my right hand, but have a "tea with the queen" position on my little finger that seems to be permanent.

So, I'll often start feeling like there's cold water between my ring finger and my little finger. When this happens, I'll grab my right hand in left, and my little finger will seem ice cold compared to the rest of my hand.

Of course, this is the basement where I almost always wear a hoodie, and am usually cold. However, when I've played bass for just 10 minutes, I shed the hoodie because I'm sweating. Even without it, I'm quite warm. I don't even jump around that much, but I really get into the groove, so I do move a little.

I tend to do the "tea with the queen" thing when I hold picks lol. I do noticed my plucking fingers get very noticeably warmer by the time I finish practicing/noodling/playing along to songs. That particular night it was like I had cut the tips off gloves and warm them just on those fingers tough

My wrist became sore after a few mins of "rocking out".

All while imagining that I'm playing a bass guitar
