A rant against UPS and Musicians' Friend

Sign in to disble this ad
AAAARRRGGGHHH. Sorry.

I purchased a case, picks, straps, straplocks, odds, & ends last Tuesday, the 27th. It was supposed to be delivered yesterday. No delivery. I check UPS web site for status, it says "receiver has refused delivery of package." The heck I did! They never attempted delivery! I was waiting for it. Anyway, I call Musicians Friend, and they tell me that when it arrives, they'll send it back. So, in effect... it's going to take three weeks for me to get my stuff from two states away.

I'm p.o.'d with UPS for lying about me refusing, I'm p.o.'d with MF for not verifying refusal with me. I'm p.o.'d with the incompetent fools at UPS for (probably) going to the wrong house. I'm p.o.'d with MF for asinine return policies. Other places will send your replacement out immediately and hold a credit card number as security against the return.

I've been buying from MF since the '80s. It's sad to see what used to be a fantastic place to mail order equipment turned into another big business "F**k You" store. I think I'm done with them. I'll still have to get my case from them (prolly locally through Guitar Center) because my local (really local) shop doesn't sell Epiphone.

This probably didn't go here, but I couldn't see an appropriate place to post it, either. Thanks for the rant.

one time I ordered some picks and guitar strings for my friend with an order I placed...UPS delivered it, the box was ripped open due to a tear in shipping apparently and the picks strings fell out or something. They rang the doorbell and dropped it off, and left. I should have had to sign for it. I complained to UPS and apparently they faked my signature too! Never ship with UPS

The ole MF. They sent my friends stuff to the wrong house twice in 2 months. Luckily the guy they kept delivering it to just said screw it signed for the stuff and called my friend to come pick it up.

That's crazy but I blame UPS for effing up! I'd personally go to the UPS depot and have a go at a supv. or manager. They have to be reminded that they get paid to deliver packages and that folks & shippers pay to have packages delivered! Can you get to the depot before they send it back??

I hope you didn't buy a MF brand case. I bought one from them and the first time I took my bass out in it, the handle fell off while I was carrying it.

If anything, MF loses my business for not offering shipping alternatives. I wasn't thrilled that it sat in their warehouse for 2 days before shipping anyway. Too many places offer same day shipping with a choice of carrier. I had kept my loyalty to MF because I've been shopping them for over 20 years. Not any more. Heck, I won't do business with anyone who solely uses UPS any more. Go brown... yeah, s**t brown.
I don't believe they use UPS exclusively. I've received pkgs. via UPS, Fedex and USPS from them. I wouldn't blame MF. This is UPS's screwup! I'd still file a complaint with a manager or higher up the chain. Explain to them that you lost a gig due to their unwillingness to do their job! Raise hell! Get good and angry until you're satisfied!

Nah, it was the Epiphone case that's made for the Rumblekat.

I've probably purchased over $20,000 from AMS. They don't sell the Epiphone Rumblekat or the case that is made for it.

They have to sound like hollow threats to them, because they sound hollow to me. I have no leverage against a company that size. They won't miss me, but my life becomes mighty inconvenient without them.
