Allo Talkbass, good afternoon.
No story really. I am the producer for my band (new-ish) and I was curious if any of you know of/use a drum program to create drums that sounds more like drums and less like a machine :/
Now, I use Guitar Pro to write the drums, export to MIDI and hope for the best. They sound alright but noticeably fake.
Thanks!

I searched and only found things marginally related. |

As MNAirHead said, there are numerous programs that sound real but they usually cost more than $100.
Try these threads: What is the best software based drum machine? Drum Machine Software
Those links are in the Recording Gear and Equipment section's FAQ.

Try it, I'd almost given up on good (or even reasonable) sounding digital drums until i came about this program. There's all these versions too, one for metal, one for pots-and-pans-style and so on.

Much of it is in the programmer.

| | | Many are great these days, but
Easy - great for practice - Band In a Box with RealDrums http://pgmusic.com/
Steep learning curve - but incredibly realistic - fire the drummer level product.

I'm surprising you didn't get it to work, I did with minimum difficulty and I'm running (gasp) Vista.

They use actual sampled sounds of real drums, and include multiple samples of each drum to simulate nuances of hitting drums in different ways/angles/pressure. Most modern electronic drum pads are sensitive to how hard you hit them and where you hit them.

It was on "the stupid deal of the day" a few months ago. $4.99
REAL drum tracks recorded in a studio by a real drummer...It is broken down into parts, and you can "drag or drop" them to your recording software
(intro,bridge, chorus, ending, etc.)
Very well recorded. You can use your software to speed up or slow-down. |

lots of acoustic drum loops to play with in garageband too! |

Lots of, and very realistic, samples and a nice eq/fx section.
Easy programmable, but has to be used as a plug-in (vst,au or rtas). Will not work as a standalone unit. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
