Really??? - Mini rant (repair content)

So ive been learning to be a guitar tech for the last few months from the local tech lately. Today i got to the shop and was informed that i would be rewiring a strat today. I think cool i like rewiring! lo and behold tom (one of the employees also learning to be a tech) pulls out a strat body, and a bag. no neck, no jack plate, no back plate, and only 3 screws for the pick-guard. Call me crazy but when i fix something i like to button it all up, not just half of it.. ugh. i wish when people tried to fix there stuff, and failed at it, they would put it back together before they bring it in, or bring it all to us in pieces... at least then i wouldn't see it back in a week when he breaks it putting it together.

The issue with the wiring was because he soldered the hot to the ground jack on the pot, and the ground to the top of the pot like normal, not a hard fix, just an annoying one.

anywho im done ranting

thanks

Hi.

If I had a wiring problem in a BO instrument and if I needed to outsource the job, I would probably take the neck off as well. Much easier to transport or to ship.

Then again, I get a few requests per year to put back together a motorcycle engine or an automatic transmission someone else has taken apart, a few years back . That I don't like (nor do for that matter).

Regards
Sam

It wouldn't have been bad if he brought all the pieces!
