Reccomend me a book

I know it's the wrong forum, but I need a quick answer. Sorry and Thanks.

I need to pick a book to read for school and it can be pretty much anything. I'm thinking something along the lines of the history of the electric guitar. The only book that seems to be 200 pages or more is The Electric Guitar: A History of an American Icon by Andre and A.J. Millard. It's pretty pricy but I was wondering if it's worth it. Has anyone read this? If not, what other book would you reccomend that is similar to this? THX

You could try Instruments of Desire: The Electric Guitar and the Shaping of Musical Experience, by Steve Waksman. It may be somewhat academic, but it's an interesting read nonetheless. Might be a bit long, but there's sections on Chuck Berry, Jimi Hendrix, etc.

There's a write-up of it here.

Good luck and have fun!

Read the Jaco Biog - that'll put hairs on your chest, and open your eyes - it's by Bill Milkowski by the way.

Or, continuing on the musician biography theme, Scars of Sweet Paradise: The Life and Times of Janis Joplin by Alice Echols is quite excellent, and gives you pretty good picture about what was going on during the 60's in general too.
