Hey everyone,
I'm currently playing an Epiphone Dove, looks good, but the action is horribly high. I'm looking for a guitar, preferably less than $300. The action must be extremely low. I use a lot of finger picking, and flamenco shots, and almost never use a pick. Bass is important, but not as important as an articulate treble, which is no where near as important as low action.
Any suggestions?
My budget is tight. Preferably less than $300 new or used. And it's also difficult for me to go the a guitar store to try out things because there are none around my school, and I currently don't have a car...
Thanks

I have a Yamaha 12 string that I got for a steal, a few scratches but still a great guitar. Start checking pawn shops. |

+1 for the setup, even though I know from experience that most cheap acoustics cannot be set up properly.
I don't recommend using $300 on a new acoustic, it's more often than not just a fancier looking $100 camp-fire guitar.
IMHO an acoustic instrument is NOT something to buy without trying it out first.
$300 will buy You a nice second hand acoustic if You're patient and look hard.
I've been pleased with my Taylor 210E, and I have heard that those can be purchased cheap.

My #1 acoustic is a 2002 Ibanez AW100 that I bought brand new from him in 2003. It was something like $379.
At that price range, I find that the make and model matter very little, and that since there is so much inconsistency between instruments, you're better off playing everything regardless of make and model.

Nice to hear from ya. I haven't been to guitar center in a few years I think... Now that I drive a Hummer, I'm too afraid to go anywhere with a speed limit over 30 mph because of the horrid highway fuel economy
But when I get a chance, maybe after this school year is over, I'll go over and check it out.
Thanks!
Hunter
