Right now I'm leaning towards getting a Behringer BCR2000 for running tracks/effects and a Korg nanoKey for all the sounds.
I'm looking on the cheaper side.
Also, how does Ableton Live compare to things like Cubase and Logic?
Thanks,
-Roy

There's a ton of information about all these programs, and which is best is an opinion thing. I think that it really doesn't matter too much for people who don't have specific styles of working (which you usually don't when you're looking for your first DAW).
The Recording Equipment forum, or better yet, gearslutz.com or similar would be a better place to look for this kind of info. |

If money is the biggest issue, you could do like I did and go Alesis. The Multimix mixers are okay and connect directly to your computer to record in Cubase. And my synth is also Alesis. It's a QS8.1, alsthough for about the same money now I would have gotten a Yamaha MM6. But I need the weighted 88 key board and they weren't cheap back then.

It's not broadcast quality, but I've heard much worse. It's good enough for a scratch pad, but not for CD's to sell.
