Recommend me some funk

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi all,
This thread is pretty self explanatory. Recommend me some funk that will make me sh*t myself with delight. It doesnt have to be stuff for me to play, it can just be for enjoyment. At the moment, I'm listening to a bit of Kool & the gang, e,w & f. Anything else is good.
Cheers.

Thumbs up

Tower of Power-East Bay Grease. It will ALWAYS be my fav, that singer was the best they ever had. Social Lubrication is a masterpiece.

If you REALLY want to feel the funk, the single funkiest man alive is still Chuck Brown. Until you've heard Funny Valentine with a Go-Go beat, you ain't livin'!

Also, IMHO, the pinnacle example of how to play THE dripping-slow, nastier-than-Roseannes-crack, so-deep-in-the-pocket-you-can-scratch-your-ankles, funk beat is the tune by Cameo simply titled: Funk Funk
The Star Trek goof intro is worth the iTunes price alone, and that snare is so late you almost walk up on it from behind.

This lyric says it all: "We can be as funky as we want to be, and even funkier than that!"
