Lately I've been captivated by the sound of the Meters and some Little Feat and was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for similar bands (specifically NOLA-based). Thanks!

Cool suggestions but at least two of these bands aren't from New Orleans (I believe that was the original request - bands from N.O.).

Check out Lee Dorsey (who often used the Meters), Eddie Bo, The Gaturs, Dr. John and the productions of Allen Toussaint.

You might want to seek out a couple of CDs on the Soul Jazz label entitled "New Orleans Funk" and its follow-up (vol. 2).

Pap Grows Funk
Vocals are a bit limited, but the band is so funky you won't care.

Big Sam's Funky Nation
Big Sam sings and plays trombone. He is without a doubt the rockinest trombone player I've ever seen! Great energetic stage presence too.

And of course the Neville Brothers.
